Dan Davies attestation

According to this attestation by Dan, he was in the Terratorial Army in London between 1909 and 1913. It seems Dan was in Lagos between 1914 and 1916. His father worked there as Superintendent of a life insurance company there and may have been involved in financial dealings as he was in Port Biera, Mozambique, a couple of years later. Dan, in his spare time there, was in the West African Volunteer Force.

He spent the rest of the war from 1916 to 1918 in 24 Heavy Battery, RGA. No 130778 Gunner. This outfit served in the trenches at Flanders, finally returning to the UK from Bonn in May 1919.
