Narrative
Married first to James Drake, who Megan Tuckey (nee Davies) believed was a Royal Navy Officer who drowned.
According to the certificate of her marriage to Mr Leigh (in 1879) she was Hannah Eliza Drake, Widow, born in 1849. Mr Leigh was a schoolmaster. This would support the belief that James Drake drowned
According to the certificate of her marriage to Mr Davies (in 1886) she was Hannah Eliza Leigh, Widow, born in in 1854. Mr Davies was a financier, who was made bankrupt and was then Superintendent of the Life Assurance Co.
According to the birth certificate of Joan Daniel Ryhdderch Davies (in 1887) she was Hannah Eliza Davies, late Leigh, previously Drake, formerly Wells.
Copies of the above certificates were exhibits referred to in the Affidavit of Hannah Eliza Davies presented in the High Court of Justice 1900 d No 412, Cancery Division before Mr Justice Cozens Hardy, Re Mr & Mrs Drakes Marriage Settlement. As I understand it marriage settlements are the financial arrangement that come with divorce. If James Drake did drown was it after a divorce?

Peggy Fisher, a lifelong friend of Megan Tuckey, recalled in 2008 that Megan's grandmother lived with Megan's parents on Canvey Island in her later years. It could not have been Megan's maternal grandmother who died in 1924 - Megans parents probably moved to Canvey sometime after Megan's marriage in 1940. I am sure Hannah did not survive into the 1950s - certainly not to 1953 when Canvey Island was flooded and Dan and Kate survived the night in the loft of their bungalow. ART 19/3/2007
