In April 1891, the census showed Harriet living in Brockhurst, Fareham, Hants - "by means of her husband's allowance". Charles was an Officer of the Royal Navy and appears to have been based in Scotland at that time.
The census of that year showed 5 children: Harriet E A, aged 6; Frederick C aged 3; Christine M aged 1; George R aged 3 months; and Lilian F, also aged 3 months. Note: Harriet E A was Enid, George R was Ross or Rossiter - his twin sister Lilian F may have died at an early age.
Harriet and her husband Charles moved to 10 (or 13?) Park Road, Trinity (Leith) in 1899 when Charles took command of the Active. Her husband Charles died later in 1901 at the age of 40 leaving Harriet with 6 children in the house. By 1920 Harriet had moved to 9 Jessfield Terrace. It is the same house that Muff (Muriel, Harriet's youngest daughter) brought up her daughter Wyn.
